Minnetonka Schools Names John Bradley as Aquatics Director

Minnetonka Schools has named John Bradley as its Aquatics Director. Bradley replaces Craig Charlson who held the position for the past year and who left in December to pursue other opportunities. Bradley will begin his new role on March 8.

Bradley brings nearly three decades of experience as a head swimming coach and a swimming program director at the high school and club levels. Currently, he serves as sports development director for Minnesota Swimming, Inc. in Hopkins and as masters swimming coach for the Rochester Swim Club. Prior to that, he led the age-group program at the Waukesha Express Swim Team in Wisconsin for five years and was the new senior coach at Elmbrook Swim Club in Brookfield, WI for four years. At Minnetonka, he will lead the Aquatics program, including Swim Club, Recreational Swim, Masters Swim and Lifeguard Services.

"We're very pleased to welcome John Bradley to the District," said Dr. Dennis Peterson, superintendent of Minnetonka Schools. "He brings a wealth of experience, success and wisdom in building swimming programs and mentoring young athletes and coaches to this role. We look forward to all he will accomplish."

"Minnetonka is a special place, and I look forward to engaging all users of aquatics services as we move forward in providing the best experiences possible for our community."

From 2015 to 2019, John served as Central Zone Coach Director and was a member of the USA Swimming Board of Directors. During that time, he was a member of the USA Swimming Safe Sport Working Group and the USA Swimming Nominating Committee. He has served as committee chair for Minnesota Swimming's Senior, Technical Planning and Age Group committees and for Wisconsin Swimming's Age Group Committee.

He also has earned a number of designations, including Minnesota Age Group Coach of the year (2011), Wisconsin Age Group Coach of the Year (2005, 2006), Head Zone Coach- Team Minnesota (2011), Zone Coach- Team Minnesota (2009-10), All-Star Head Coach- Team Minnesota (2015), Head Zone Coach- Team Wisconsin (2006) and Zone Coach- Team Wisconsin (1997-98, 2004-05). Bradley earned his BA in government and studio arts from Lawrence University.
