Kindergarten Experience

Starting Kindergarten is a big milestone, and Minnetonka Public Schools is committed to making it a joyful, successful experience for every child. Our full-day Kindergarten program combines hands-on exploration, purposeful play and engaging academic instruction to help students build confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Minnetonka teachers are experts in child development who understand that every child learns differently. Through individualized instruction, small-group learning and research-based teaching practices, we meet each student at their learning level while nurturing important academic, social and emotional skills. Children develop strong foundations in reading, writing and math while learning how to collaborate, solve problems and build friendships.

Part-day Option

A part-day option is available in the English Kindergarten program only. Students will be assigned to an all-day classroom so that the child may easily change to an all-day schedule without changing classrooms if the family chooses. All children will start their day at the school's start time. Families that elect part-day enrollment will meet individually with the principal and Kindergarten teacher to establish an early dismissal time-either mid-day or early afternoon. Parents will be fully informed about the portion of the all-day curriculum the child will miss, which will then become the responsibility of the family to make up. Transportation for early dismissal is the responsibility of the family.
